Someone in a posting on "Tips" asked about discussing a seed exchange and listing some reliable sources.

Thanks just wanted to save some the rip offs that I endured with some seedbanks..I am not sure how a seed exchange could be done.Maybe the other posters have some ideas? Thanks omnipotent admin gods.LOL.
A seed exchange is an excellent idea. It sounds like it will have to be a gathering in person... perhaps different part of the state each time? Rotating basis so different caregivers can meet up in different parts of the state? Once every three months or so? Perhaps it could be a potluck...
excellent idea rmcc!! We must take care of ourselves potluck free seed-clone exchange. Sounds solid

I think this is the answer to many peeps problems.I had a real pisser of a time with the banks.I would be happy to share/swap seeds.I think many potential med growers are intimidated by the whole process of ordering beans through the mail(Big Brother Looking).I think this would help a lot of needful people over a major hurdle. As long as the genetics are clearly outlined and a little flower time info.I would have no problem with a caregivers meeting/seed swap/help my fellow growers session every three months.
Keeping accurate information on your genetics will be important. If you do not know what the strain is then be honest and keep track of flower time and charecteristics of the strain, so we all will know what we are getting.
Are there any requests for specific genetics?
I would be interested in hearing ways the caregivers think Patients and Families United could be of help in facilitating a seed or clone exchange. We could provide some coordination, if that would help.
In terms of timing, is there a particular time of the year or season in which this exchange should occur? Or ongoing??
We were thinking of hosting an event here in the Bozeman/Billings area. I realize that most of us would like to keep things more on the "DownLow" until we start building relationships with each other, but it would be beneficial to us for an even in the next month. Anyone else up for this?
Patients and Families would be a most welcome addition. Perhaps this could be a joint venture?
Patients and families would most definitely want to play a part.
We're having a staff meeting Tuesday, and we'll be hashing out (to coin a phrase) our role in the possible seed exchange. If nothing else we would encourage using this blog for coordination, and someone would attend.
I would like to say it is very commendable of the(allknowingallseeing)admins to offer assistance.Since I am the one that sort of got this ball rolling I feel somewhat responsible in notifying admin that from what I have seen and read on other forums in other states and in Canada there could be some legal liability with your involvement.Having said that,I would be willing to donate/exchange some cuts and a few seeds to someone in need.I would add the stipulation that the individual receiving said aid must be a card carrier and not someone looking for a free score. This would protect those in need and ultimately prevent this "exchange" from falling onto a legal slippery slope.By the way Skip I never heard back from you regarding the detoxification process you mentioned?I hope the grumpy tone in my email did not offend you,I have had a really bad couple of weeks. Please feel free to shoot me another email anytime.Your friend.AG.
Fleabit, I'm not sure I got your email. Might have gotten snagged by a spam filter. Would you send me another email?
I would definately support a clone seed exchange if all involved were able and willing to provide, on the spot, a CURRENT Montana medical marijuana card. Sooner the better.

Anyone have any G-13,or OG Kush genetics?? I have some Blue Berry, 3/4BB X 1/4white widow
3/4BB X 1/4 AK 47
Sour Deisel
Jamaican Purple skunk(via JA)
last certainly not least BUDDA
Rich
Oh ya and straight Blue Berry (short phennotype) very bushy!!!
Rich
I have G-13 X Sour Diesel beans.I probably will pop these next.It will be awhile I am afraid.
The poster @ 3:43 PM on Nov 13 touched on an excellent idea.
Not only is a seed exchange a good idea, but a CLONE EXCHANGE is even more important in the near term.
Patients need different varieties for different ailments.
For instance, if someone has Glaucoma or another eye disease which involves pressure building on the optic nerve, any strain will work to alleviate the pressue. WITHOUT THE SIDE EFFECTS OF DROPS OR PILLS. Not to mention the cost for the uninsured.
Other conditions however are far more tricky as to what strains prove effective, and only trial and error will answer that question.
It is therefore IMPERATIVE, if our goal is to provide relief to as many as possible, assure that caregivers have all the options/ seeds/ strains available.
A co-op of course seems the most efficient way to bring this about.

Oh, and, hi!
I'm new here and am so glad to have found this local blog.
I look forward to reading and posting here in the future!
Kudos to the informed membership!!!
Hi Rooseville, glad you are here. You are a welcome addition to the boards.
Skip, would you consider a new thread for "introduction for new members" and "Meetings and seed share".I am sure you can word it better than that.Thanks.
Hey folks...
My first visit to the forum and it is good to see some healthy discussion going on.
I have set up a modest network of registered Caregivers and Patients in the western part of the state and we are already actively exchanging genetics and other valuable information.
I am always on the lookout for other interested parties to participate. I am hesitant to post any specific information in this public forum but if you are a registered Patient or Caregiver then you may have access to the info.
Admin.... can I post my email?
Thanks... Smokapelli
I hope to hear from you all. We have much to talk about and share.
We are going to start offering FREE clinics for patients and caregivers on indoor and outdoor cultivation for beginners & advanced growers starting this spring if we can generate enough interest! And Much more.
If you are registered in the Montana Medical Marijuana Program please contact me at

A seed & clone exchange sounds GREAT!
please include me.!!!!!! I WANT TO BE APART OF THIS, and let me know when the meet in boz/bill is? you should start a data base of e-mail addreses a mail out anouncements to increase attendance.
i feel it should be a caregivers Guild, ( growing is an art u-no)and ya got to show your card to get in the door. a quarterly held meeting rotating amoung the bigger cities in MT. I am happy to share my knowleage and stock. Maybe WE could hold a once a year GROWERS Guild MT BUD CUP Classic too, or come up with a standerized lable for all distrubed MT MED's. approved by the guild. IN any case we NEED to organize and have some struchers in place before the state or fed dose it for us...word up!
Hey, Zebon... good to see your involvement and enthusiasm. It looks as though MT has a lot of great caregivers.
We'd love to arrange the first exchange, along-side Patients and Families? Sooner would be better than later for us -It would also be a great chance for caregivers overloaded with patient requests to meet others who can take a bigger patient load.
Does anyone object to December?
Dec. is great for me!
i been thinking alot about this...More guild talk... think about it.. We are NOW a state wide unregulated industry with a up and coming influx of patients and factories that prouduce various standers of a medical pharmaceutical product. Yes we are! weather we like it or not we are. a PR problem waiting to happen to us. Can we afford to have our factories or product regulated by the FDA ? hell no! can we aford to have our supplies & equipment out lawed due to the negtive press if a factory had a death due to fire, electrical or a CO2 problem No way!. There is an Art & Science to creating this high quality product and you need $$ and brains to get into it. A guild could hold the trade secerts and training, it can house a seed/clone bank, it can be a SELF police-ing (safety, product and price guidelines)industry body but, allow everyone to be independent both big & small card holders. Who would you rather have come to your Go'-shop? or set the fair grade/price, a known and trusted fellow guild member or the Dept.of f*%!ed up shit. do we want to be associted (grouped in w/ press) with any illgeal distrubution or beavous & butt head operations, thouse that make the headlines NO!
Most Industries are free to do as they wish till there is are problems then the Gov't steps in. we shoud be pro-defenceive on this new MT industry. So I'll put some $$ / name, where my mouth is.. I am willing to help regerster, in some name and basic by laws a guild.. (all to be changed by us latter) just to get it on the books before the new year/new deal starts, But we would need a p.o. box and at least 2 other real people to start it, but open to all caregivers.
let me know.. oh i think a co-op despensaries would work well between guilded caregivers and patients.. and anyways enought of my 2 cents.. i am for real...talk to me. zebon33 at yahoo dot com
O.K.i RUN 13 DIFRENTF1 HYBRIDS,NORMALLY I WOULD NOT EVEN ACCEPT A NEW BABY,THERE ARE TO MANY INEXPERIENCED GROWERS OF PLANTS BUT EXCELLENT PRODUCERS OF CRITTERS SO TRADERS BE WARE,IS WHAT YOU GOT KNOW WORTH PUTTING WHAT YOU ALREADY GOT,UNLESS YOU NO FOR SURE!JUST A WORD FROM EXPERIENCE.stregisjim
I hear ya on the import of critters!
It happens a lot.
Beware of your source. Check clones carefully for problems and if possible quarantine the clones for a week or so before moving them into your garden.
You can also spray clones with Volk Oil or another insecticide before introducing it to your garden.
Just my thoughts
Smokapelli
zebon, what ia a guild by your definition?thought this was 21st century,i know my stuffs good but I"m not even that medicated at 3am
smokeapelli? I know how to get rid of the critters I was just letting others know an ounce of prevention is worth a lifetime of collecting.
Yup I figured YOU would know what to do. I posted a suggestion for what other people might do to remedy such a problem. Just trying to be proactive. I like to point to a solution not just the problem!
Many people have to find clones and don't have the option of keeping mother plants especially 13 diff strains!.
The clone trade has been going on for decades. I was just offering a solution to the critter problem for the laymen out there who were interested in using clones.
Just walking from outside and then into your garden can introduce unwanted critters. Should we no longer go outside? An ounce of knowledge is worth a pound of prevention IMO!
Peace

ok Anonymous...
A Guild is an Association of (Master)craft-persons of the same trade, skills or pursuits, formed to give help and advice to it members, also to protect mutual interests and to make and set standers & regulations for there trade industry.
Within a trade guilds, we offten find a trade school seting with apprenticeship, journey man and master craftman levels. A Teaching and sharing the secerts of there trade or craft with only there members.
The protection of the skill or craft is most important to the guild and it works to make there craft or trade exclusive on to themselves. Such as the screen actors guild, if you are not a member of the guild you can't get hired to be in the movies, and this guild makes it difficult to join.
In some Guilds members pay dues and with time and service put into the Guild members can withdraw benefits from the guild..such as unemployment $$ or loans (a Banking of resources)
Guilds usually have a elected board of directors and can have chapters across the globe.
I really think this would be a good format for all of us to start with, because growing a medical quality product to within a consistent standerd is truly a skill and craft that needs to be taught. However I am open to other formats and thoughts

So since when do caregivers get to have more rights under montana law than the patients.
Why is it ok for a caregiver to transfer, buy, sell, trade, barter with other caregivers in quantities that exceed our state mandated one ounce of dried leaf.
For my caregiver they are now legal to grow 6 plants for me and store one ounce. Then i have to buy my medicine back from them. when all this time i have provided the protection of my caregiver card.
I know that i can't smoke or use 12 plants worth of medicine. so what happens to the extra. It just gets destroyed. I could sell the rest of it but then why have a legal card if i wantto just break the law.
Why is it ok for caregivers to sample you then not have anything available till after your caregiver card shows up.
Being a patient is just as hard as being a care giver i'm sure. I always want a good constant supply of dependable high quality meds.
I can buy some mid grade pot for 60.00 quarter but it does not go down as smooth.
Are people really flushing their plants?
If anyone can answer a question for me that would be great.
1. Are there any resources that rate caregivers on quality, strains, value, ease of doing business, volume, consistency.
2. Every caregiver that i have met used to break the Montana law by providing, growing, and servicing their customers. Why all of a sudden is it taboo to help out their new patient load with some medicine while they wait for their caregiver card?
3. pricing is all over the board.
Why can't we just agree on a price and stick to it. $200.00/oz is a reasonable price. I have heard some prices as high as 350.00/oz.
4.On the street i always sample before i buy. Why is it so different now. Shouldn't a caregiver have a sample of their different products avail to try so we each can find our own best medicine.
Well, I suppose that is enough for now. I hope to get some clarification on some of my questions.
One more? Why can't i go to a local store like in california and buy my medicine?
Thank you
c.w
"So since when do caregivers get to have more rights under montana law than the patients.

Caregivers do not have more rights than patients.
It is not legal to trade, buy, sell or barter with other caregivers.
"For my caregiver they are now legal to grow 6 plants for me and store one ounce. Then i have to buy my medicine back from them. when all this time i have provided the protection of my caregiver card."
Good point but at the same time the caregiver is providing a service...running a risk of FEDERAL prosecution as well as footing the bills for cultivating your medicine. It is not a cheap venture. That is why the state law allows for reasonable compensation.
"Why is it ok for caregivers to sample you then not have anything available till after your caregiver card shows up."
This is something you must work out between you and a potential caregiver! It is a business arrangement so it is best to treat such a meeting as an interview and it is up to the patient to negotiate the best possible arrangement before agreeing to make someone their caregiver.
"I can buy some mid grade pot for 60.00 quarter but it does not go down as smooth".
Like many things... you get what you pay for! It takes time, experience and investment to grow a quality crop. Unfortunately there are a lot of rookies or commercial growers who don't care about the quality of the finished product.
"Are there any resources that rate caregivers on quality, strains, value, ease of doing business, volume, consistency".
I am currently devising such a system for the caregivers and patients in my group and on my website. I am sure others are working on this too...
"pricing is all over the board.
Why can't we just agree on a price and stick to it. $200.00/oz is a reasonable price. I have heard some prices as high as 350.00/oz."
Prices vary for a few reasons... all growers are at different skill levels. Some can produce large quantities while others have a hard time getting a half oz per plant.
Some growers grow Sativas that take an additional month to mature... that means one more electric bill and one more month of nutrient and labor costs. This will naturally fetch a higher price.
Some growers are profit driven and will charge high prices for anything. These folks will put themselves out of business within a couple years.
Some questions I couldn't answer.... they would be better asked to YOUR caregiver to get the correct answer.
I hope this adds a little clarity to some of these problems.
Peace...

Seems to me, getting to setup would open the door to a RICO case.I don't see many people taking this very real problem into their planning. All sounds good, just need to keep that in your thoughts. It would be easy for the feds to sneak an agent into a swapmeet.Anything stopping them from making a fake green card? With the backdoor approach to scaring good dr.s away, I would not be surprised by anything the do.We need an opinion from the smart folks on this one.I talked with Amy at HHS, about a year ago, asking about co-ops.She said we're not at that point yet.

Hello, I'm a new mmj patient and i have been reading some bad stories about caregivers in livingston, and around the state. How can a new patient secure a supply of medicine while trying to figure out this caregiver stuff. Do I need a caregiver to get mmj or can i get it from anybody. I was told by one caregiver that he could not help me till his name was on my card.
Why do all these people not look back a few years ago or recently and get their head out of their?@#. You are no different than the guy selling weed next door. You still are breaking federal law so just supply me and we will keep this between us. I don't mind breaking the law when it is convenient for me. Just like speeding we all know it's against the law but we still do it. I really could just use some medicine I'm in the eastern montana area and could really use some relief.
MMJ IN BILLINGS???
Guest Opinion: Marijuana and health care policy changes would pay off for U.S.
billingsgazette
By EDWARD STICKNEY
The United States is faced with two large, important, emotion-laden problems. Each has a very simple but extremely controversial solution that will require education of the people to overcome powerful lobbies - governmental and private. Each of these solutions can result in savings of at least $350 billion, which can finance needed changes in our society.
Legalize it, tax it
The first twin is drug prohibition. Many do not realize that marijuana was America's largest cash crop in 2007 - exceeding corn, wheat and barley added together. If marijuana is legalized, taxed and regulated, at least $350 billion would be diverted from the drug lords into public coffers, according to the Marijuana Policy Project, Citizens for a Sane Drug Policy and the Drug Policy Alliance. It could then be used for education, treatment and myriad other societal needs.
The medical use of marijuana is characterized by a marked decrease in the need of narcotics for chronic pain and, in patients being treated with chemotherapy for cancer, a marked improvement in appetite and outlook on life.
The biggest impediment to honest information about marijuana getting into people's hands is the incessant drumbeat of lies from the Drug Enforcement Agency that regularly states that marijuana is highly addictive and that it is a "gateway drug." There is no evidence to support either of these claims.
The second twin is a single-payer health plan. If it were passed, the health insurance industry would no longer be necessary and approximately (estimates vary) $350 billion in savings - both in doctors' offices and in overhead from insurance companies - would be available to fund the extension of comprehensive health care to all, according to Physicians for a National Health Plan. We already have two single-payer systems in this country - the Veteran's Administration and Medicare - both of which operate in the vicinity of 12 percent overhead instead of the almost 30 percent that we now suffer with the health insurance nonsystem.
Another argument for a single-payer system is that only with that system can cost control, access to medical care and quality assurance be accomplished. All three of these aspects of a health care system should be expected and demanded by the American public. It is interesting to note that about 59 percent of doctors and 54 percent of the public favor a single-payer health plan.
Too controversial for politicians
Both of these solutions are considered by most politicians to be too controversial to deal with. Thus, only a ground swell of public opinion is going to be heeded by Congress. Only in this way can "the people" overcome powerful lobbies and governmental bureaucracies.
Many people think that we have to make changes on an incremental basis, while the organization Physicians for a National Health Plan feels that there is a national crisis in health care that demands radical change. Incremental change will merely "kick the can" to the next generation.
So here are two major problems this country needs to deal with. If the arguments put forth here make sense to you, please make your opinions known to your friends and members of Congress! It could result in $700 billion being channeled into positive directions for our country.

I want to say that that Dr. Stickney is one hell of a fine man. He understands exactly what he is doing. This man believed me when noone else would and now because of him I can walk, sit, stand and even sometimes slouch. ouch!!! AS i have noticed there seems to be a steady supply of medicine that is working. We need alot more doctors who will to use a montana word (cowboy up). Keep up the great work ED, And say hello to your lovly wife.
To the blogger that is looking for "weed". The reason a caregiver is much different than "the guy next door selling weed". Is that the guy next door selling weed isnt screening anyone for a mmj card, the ailment the patient has(strain needed),or potential financial need. DUDE, THIS IS A LEGAL MEDICAL COMMUNITY! This is a young law in our state and should be treated as so...We are not California. We are not able to go to the local club to obtain meds. A lot of gray area's in the law. Caregiver's are actually taking quite a risk with the fed's. Caregiver's have jobs, children and a mortgage, a lot to loose. So give em a break. I know how aggrivating it can be when you cant obtain your meds... Hope you find the medication you need. Peace
Rich
After running into wall after wall for 8 months now, while simply trying to find one patient I can provide medicine for, using 4 decades of experience, I'm about ready to disappear.
A carded MMJ member, I am gonna see a bumper crop of very potent and exotic buds here in a couple/few weeks (as soon as I cure them) and will reply to any serious inquiries re:access.
Western Montana MMJ cardholders can email me for more insight.

Care givers only "live" by the good grace of the patients. if WE we don't sign "you" up on OUR CARD THEN your illegal. If looking to make $$$ or control the meds business in a area. Your on the wrong web site. this is about caring and compastion for people in dire need. I need it even if i can't pay for it.
I dought you(s) would even think twice about giving it freely to some with no cash, in pain and stuck in bed waiting to die.
i've read alot of your postings and you all sound pretty greedy. for the price of an oz or 2 (675 + s&h) i can & will get my own auto grow & bloom machine out of high times mag, i wont need a care giver and you thugs can go crawl back under the rock you came from.
Holy cow....
I think all patients who think like the last person should get their own grow room out of high times and grow their own meds! You arrogant asses!
You will then be paying for it and doing your own labor and taking the risk of being busted and thrown in federal prison( as it should be)
Demanding free meds just because of your problems...?? Check yourself! I don't ever demand free anything in this world.
Do you get free aspirin for your headache? Do you get free coffee to wake you up when you are tired?
Do you get free gas when you on your way to the hospital?
NOPE!
Why should marijuana be any different. If you depend on others to provide you with what you need then expect them to expect compensation!
Oh and when you are churning out the quality meds be sure to give me a call. I will expect some for free!because I too am in pain and i deserve it!
Wake up and buy the coffee!!!
Good luck with that "auto grow and bloom machine". There is nothing auto about this, as you will soon find out with your "high Times grow kit". Try to refrain from insulting our forum and you may get the help your crying out for.I am beginning to see some hostile comments here, and it definately is counterproductive. There are a LOT of compasionate people here, most of us would be glad to help someone that has no resorces. take care and chill a little.....

It is hard not to think about being away from my children and wife. It occupies my thoughts from time to time. Evenings spent alone in the flower room it is in my thoughts. There are many sacrifices made that can never be expressed. Living life with secrets all the time, can be hard, eventhough Caregiving is very fullfilling. It is worth the risk and the stress to relieve people of pain and help heal them. I am also a patient and so is my wife. We do not caregive for some monetary gain,or protection to grow medicine. We do it because of spiritual gain, from helping others. Namaste.
Namaste, you hit the nail on the head man. I have often been working in my room and had the same thoughts of family, keeping secrets, and overall stress of controlling an environment so all the time $ and energy spent is not lost in a moment. Staying ahead of things, so one gets no pests or disease. Controlling heat and humidity always sniffing for unwanted odors. The list goes on....So caregivers keep up gods work!!!
The more man smoke herb, the more babylon fall.

To the guy that thinks us caregivers should kiss the ground they walk on.for #1,first of all I grow medicine for me as a hobby, but I also have compassion for my fellow man does not mean I can grow more without added expense,my patients are happy,as for patients having to wait for meds that's not my practice,I supply now if needed with the understanding if I supply your medicine than I'm your caregiver, any excess then will be available for next patient in urgent need.caregivers that make patients wait I agree they should not have too.
to patients if it wasnt for us caregivers u would still be getten ur shit on the street whitch is still illeigal and 60% of the patients cant or dont know how to grow for them selfs 30% of them grow crap and the other 10% are patients them selfs and caregivers that actualy know how to grow high grade meds and dien or not meds still cost if ur caregiver aint got passion thats your fault.
I am quoting an angry confused person here................
........."looking to make $$$ or control the meds business in a area. Your on the wrong web site. this is about caring and compastion for people in dire need. I need it even if i can't pay for it.

I think its important to ignore the negative remarks and intentional divisiveness and remember there are many that would like to see the MMJ community fail. Please stay focused and ignore those doomsayers and haters, some are just bent on tearing down just to tear down.I personally know what it is I must do to help others and if it becomes painful risky and costly to help others I will probably stop. What many forget to consider is the cost of electricity, equipment, seeds, nutrients and yes the risk of Federal bullies kicking in the door or criminals ripping you off.I say give the growing a go before you start slinging your shit around this forum.Growing is not as easy as you think.Go get your automatic grow machine from "HIGH TIMES" and see how that works for you.I wish you peace and happiness.
To annonymous "patient" looking for medicine under the table.... NOT going to happen here. If you wish to continue on your current path - then you will need luck, because that's the only thing that will keep you out of jail. I hope you're not too pretty. I'm sorry that you have such a low opinion of caregivers, and the mmj community in general. You must've had a bad experience somewhere - I encourage you to educate yourself.
To the person ready to buy the "kit'? I once bought a kit for growing culinary herbs... Funny thing, those kits are usually not worth it. Good luck with that -
I have to say that I'm extremely impressed with the responses by our community. Even though we've been recieving angry posts, most of you still wished each person the best - That just goes to show the compassion present here. Thanks for reaffirming my faith in humanity.
are there any paitents in the sanders county area that are having trouble finding proper medication with proper suply?
Most of you will never know how useless it feels to be sittin' on the best pot many of you will n-ever smoke/eat/see, unable to share it with the MMJ community due to a bunch of nonsense.
I don't need to know a patient to grow for them, and this requirement stinks. Let someone else do the selling. I'm a terrible salesman! Having to sell would keep some from bothering to help. I've got a green thumb, not a degree in socializing. I wouldn't mind helping, but not at the cost of my own comfort and lifestyle. I've never known a single pharmacist.
Some grow aspirin. I grow fentynal.
