Food Recipes

Someone suggested a thread for recipes and I think that is a great idea (which could lead to a MTPFU cookbook?)

So here it is. Let's talk about therapeutic recipes and their effectiveness. I'd be particularly interested in a comparison of effectiveness for different diagnoses: Eaten v. inhaled.

It seems as though eaten cannabis helps with muscle pain, spasms, rigidity a bit more than inhaled. Although, the effects are much quicker with inhaled. Migraines (for myself) tend to react better to inhaled, especially with the nausea associated.

Is anyone out there suffering from Multiple Sclerosis? I have a pt that could use your input - thanks so much.

I've had good luck with cookies and baked items, but I could really use some recipes for more compact edibles. Does anyone have recipes for lollipops?

I know there are a lot of pts. with a multiple sclerosis diagnosis. I might be wrong now but there for awhile MS was the second most common diagnosis after chronic pain, via Roy Kemp who runs the program for the state.

And the MS patients generally report dramatic reduction in spasms with medical cannabis treatment.

I believe you're right about MS being at the top of the list. I've been a neurology nurse for awhile and have seen firsthand how the spasticity and pain associated with MS can be debilitating. If anyone out there could share their experiences.. things that have worked, things that haven't... I would greatly appreciate it!

Lets start with making the butter? I cook my butter for 1 hour in a double boiler. I generaly adjust the amount of cannabis depending on the strength. I like to use trim materials for my butter, so I add about 2 1/2 cups per pound of butter. After double boiling I strain the vegetive materials out and store the butter in the fridge until ready for use.

I found this on another site, and I thought it could be a good method for new patients, or those who really just aren't into the medicine-taste. I hope it helps!

It would REALLY HELP if I actually put the recipe in the blog...

Hello there.

Let me clarify this for you. Yes, you soak your buds or leaf in water, dry out your buds or leaf, and then cook with your buds or leaf. Precicely, this process eliminates chlorophyl therefore reducing the taste some of us find unappealing. The water is to be discarded.

Also, this process will "rupture" your resin glands to some degree. Some hints in reducing the amount of resin glands lost:

1- always place your buds or leaf WHOLE in water.

2- when you drain the water from the bowl, do so slowly and you will discover a light brown colored residue at the bottom. You can remove and dry this residue, therefore recovering any resin glands. This residue is very potent.

3- try screening your cannabis before soaking. Collect the trichromes and put them into your recipe along with the cannabis.

Let me say, this method isn't for everybody. It is meant for people who have a hard time swallowing the taste of cannabis in cooking.

Namaste

Not much cooking but it works if you dont have much time.

Bake or purchase basic carrot cake.
1 cup cannabutter
1/2 cup honey
pinch lemon zest
1/4 oz. Kentucky bourbon
3/4 cup powdered sugar
Icecream

double boil cannabutter until fully melted and rolling. add honey, lemon zest double boil 2 min. then add Kentucky bourbon and slowly add sugar until all is disolved. Heat carrot cake. add one scoop of ice cream and top with 1/8 or more cups of bourbon cannabutter sauce, amount depending on butter strength and your medical needs. Enjoy.

Hi everyone, I am Sherbear I just joined this group and I use cannabis to make a batch of green krispies sometimes. You need to use high grade cannabis, using at least 1 oz to a receipe. grind bud in coffee grinder on finest grind, making flour, now cook the bud in melted butter on low to med. heat. stirring for a minute or two(bud will soak up butter)then add marshmellows on low or med heat you must stir and stir and stir.. till melted and well mixed and stir a minute or two more ... add rice krispies cereal...stirring well.put on a greased cookie sheet and flatten out,cut into 28 1 gram pieces if you used 1oz (i always use more). ah enjoy I will also dip them in heated hard dipping chocolate for extra yummyness. Sometime I will also add a couple of T. of keif (kief)...these yum.yum.yum. Of clourse you still get ths "bud taste".. may also add peanut butter, chocolate chips etc..if you aren't used to ingesting cannabis you should start with a half a square, wait for about 45 minutes and if you need it eat the other half of the square. Enjoy!

Ganja Flour ~ Take 1 oz of good bud or trimming, grind in coffee grinder 1/3 at a time on fine grind (grind so it is very fine like flour). Makes 1/2 cup of flour.
